all of this is so adorable and yet it’s also really sad, because sherlock honestly can’t believe not only why people would be interested in him, but that people are interested in him at all. he must have had such a lonely childhood, with kids either ignoring him or actively rejecting him for his intellect. i can imagine so many senarios when sherlock being sherlock pisses other kids off and they refuse to let him play with him,
and he says that’s fine he doesn’t want to play with such imbeciles anyway, but underneath his chilly facade he’s hurt that they rejected him. so he protected himself with his genius and can only continue to further insult people, maybe so that they don’t get close and inevitably reject him, because he can’t understand why anyone would be interested for him for a prolonged period of time, because no-one ever was.
